'This is fantastic': Aldi draws huge crowd for Salisbury opening

Getting up at 4 a.m. paid off for David Clauges and Janelle Mansfield of Bridgeville. The early alarm allowed them to be first in line at the new Aldi store in Salisbury for its opening day. Clauges, Mansfield and 98 others who lined up in advance of the 8 a.m. opening received gift cards and Aldi shopping bags. They also had the chance to win free produce for a year. The Salisbury store is the second on Maryland’s Eastern Shore for the German grocery chain, said Alex King, director of operations for Aldi’s Frederick, Maryland, division.
